Get the recipe out of a YouTube cooking video without pausing every ten seconds

Long YouTube cooking videos bury the recipe in twenty minutes of footage. How to pull out the ingredients, method, heat and timings in one go.

A long YouTube cooking video is great to watch and hard to cook from. The method is spread across twenty minutes, quantities are mentioned once, and the description box may or may not have the recipe.

Start with the description

Click …more under the video. If the creator wrote out the recipe or links to it, that’s the most reliable version. Chapters, if there are any, also help you jump to the cooking.

Or read the whole video

  1. Copy the video’s link (Shorts links work too).
  2. Paste it into Recipe from Video.
  3. It watches the video, listens to what the cook says and writes the recipe with each step’s heat and time where the video gives them.

Long videos take a little longer to read. One video credit covers up to ten minutes of footage, and you’re only charged when a recipe reaches you.

When the video and the description disagree

It happens: the cook adds more garlic on camera than the description lists. The read follows what the video shows and says, and notes anything it couldn’t see clearly. If both versions matter to you, keep the description open while you check the saved recipe.
