How to turn an Instagram Reel into a written recipe
Reels hide recipes in captions, comments and on-screen text. A practical way to get the full recipe out of a Reel and keep it somewhere useful.
Instagram Reels are full of good food, but the recipe is scattered: part of it is in the caption, part of it appears as text over the video, and the rest is only shown. The Saved folder keeps the Reel, not the recipe.
Check the obvious places first
- The caption. Tap “more”. Many creators paste the full recipe there.
- The comments. Look for a pinned comment from the creator.
- The bio link. Some creators keep recipes on a blog or newsletter.
If you find a full written recipe, that’s the best source. If you don’t, the video itself is.
Read it from the video
- In Instagram, tap the paper plane, then Copy link.
- Paste it into Recipe from Video.
- It reads the caption, the on-screen text and the voiceover together, then writes one recipe with ingredients, amounts and steps.
TipReels from private accounts can’t be read from a link. Save the clip if you have permission and upload it instead.
Make it yours
Once saved, you can rename it, tick off ingredients as you shop, plan it into your week and print it in a cookbook alongside recipes from TikTok and YouTube. Everything stays on your device unless you choose to share it.
